Nuffielder Uses Holistic Thinking to "Weave it All Together"

How do we strike a healthy balance between economy and ecology?

It was a treat to have Geraint Powell, Nuffield 2018, on our holistic management course this past summer. His focus question, "how do we strike a healthy balance between economy and ecology?" provided excellent grist for a well-written and topical study sponsored by AHDB.

He writes in his Nuffield paper, "I was struggling to piece everything together I had learnt over the travel period, so on the advise of some of the best farmers I had met, I hesitantly booked myself on a 9-day intensive Holistic Management course facilitated by Christopher Cooke of 3LM (Savory Hub UK). I needn't have worried. The 9-day course answered a lot of questions and provided several missing pieces to my Nuffield Farming jigsaw and I really enjoyed it!" He explained that learning in-depth about the four ecosystem processes had the effect of tying all the bits together.

Geraint has a way with words. For example he writes, "True innovation is conceived on the fringes by individuals who are forced by disruptions outside their control to find another way -- a better way."

We encourage you to look at both his paper and his presentation, see links below.
